Kemps Ridley sea turtle laying eggs on the beach

Responding team found the nest and is gathering information

Picture of the original egg chamber made by the sea turtle

Nest will be relocated. The team carefully places eggs in egg cartons to move to the new nest site

Eggs will be removed and placed back into the new nest in approximately the same order as the sea turtle mom laid them

Eggs are being put back into the newly created nest. This nest will have the same dimensions that mom created

Team adds a data logger into the nest to record hourly temperatures within the nest. This data helps us know approximately when the hatchlings will emerge

As the sun starts to set, the team secures the final nest site
